How to Create the Perfect Welcome Email for Your Subscriber List

So first, let’s talk about setting up a welcome email. If you haven’t already, I recommend setting up something to welcome new subscribers as soon as they join your list. If you use something like Mailchimp, which offers a free version, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid version in order to set-up automation. Automation is a way to ensure your subscribers receive an email from you as soon as they sign up without you having to actually send it every time. I believe it costs about $15 per month to upgrade, which in my opinion is well worth it for the professionalism of being able to send automated emails.

Next, let’s outline what to include in your welcome email:

1. Your offering

If you don’t already have one, I highly recommend setting up a freebie or promo for your subscriber list. To learn more about that, check out this article. Once you have set-up your offering, you want to make sure you deliver that to your new subscriber.

2. An introduction

Introduce yourself. Your new subscriber might be someone who has never met you, or they could be someone who has been following you on social media for a while, but either way you want to treat it as though they have never met you before. Make sure that you introduce yourself the way you would if you were meeting them in person. Be yourself, tell them what you do, what you offer, and who you are.

3. Set expectations

The next thing you want to include is what they can expect from you now that they are a subscriber. How often will they hear from you? What will you be sharing with them? Do they get an perks for being a subscriber? Let them know what they can expect from you.

4. Give them somewhere to go

From here, you want to conclude with giving them something to do. This can include some or all of the following: where to find you on social media, popular blog articles for them to check-out, your youtube channel to go visit, another offering or freebie they can look at, etc. If they are interested in what you have to offer, they will want to go further, keep digging, and look at more, so make it easy for them to access more if they want it.

Setting up a welcome email for your subscribers is making yourself a good host to those who visit your site. It’s like welcoming someone who visits your home.
