The first reason is in regards to having holes in their digital strategy. What do I mean by that? Simply put, they are doing some things right, and other things wrong. And the wrong things make it so that their strategy does not succeed.
For example, putting out a lot of content, but not putting out the right kind of content or on the right social media platforms. Doing social media well, but not having a good email list. Having a blog, but not writing content for their target audience or lacking calls-to-action.
What I have come to realize, is that without doing all of these right and well, a digital marketing strategy has a hard time succeeding.
The second reason is in regards to not having a strategy or funnel. When I work with my clients one of the first things I do is ask about their strategy. A strategy simply put is:
How often do you post on social, send out an email, publish a blog article? And what is the strategy behind the type of content you are posting?
For most, this is non-existent. There is no true strategy. And for many, there is no funnel.
The third thing I have noticed is that businesses don't track and analyze their results. How can you know what is or isn't working in order to tweak your strategy and improve what you are doing if you aren't tracking it?
