Writer’s-block. Raise your hand if you have ever experienced writers-block? Better yet, let’s call it content-block. Have you ever sat down to write an email, blog, or post on social and found your mind blank on what to write? It happens to all of us. This pattern causes many entrepreneurs to feel overwhelmed with the idea of keeping up a social media presence, starting a blog, and sending out emails.
The truth is that there are ways for you to avoid having content-block. How would you feel if you could sit down and know exactly what to write for your blog, or what to post on social? Wouldn’t that make life easier, and growing your business online more manageable?
I have a few tips I personally use and share that make content-creation a piece of cake, because believe it or not, I knew exactly what this blog article would be all about before I even sat down to write it. Here is what my tips are:
1. Start with a Strategy
The starting point in coming up with content is having a strategy in place. This will help you determine:
-who you are trying to reach
-what you are trying to tell them
-where you are going to communicate with them
-and how you are going to communicate with them
It makes it so much easier to sit down and create content when you know all four of those tihngs. Don’t know anything about strategy or how to create one for your business? Take my FREE Digital Course to learn how to create one.
2. Have a Content Calendar
I love worksheets and I love organization. You might not feel the same way, but having an organized way to keep all of your content will make your life easier, and that is something we all want to feel. With a content calendar and a strategy you can literally sit down and plan out your content for the entire month. I’ll even be bold enough to say that you can do it in one hour. Content for an entire month in one hour? Yes please! Don't know where to get a content calendar? Check out the ones in our shop.
3. Don’t overthink it
How many of you overthink your content? I think we all do. We want it to be perfect. Yes, your content should provide value, but you don’t have to stress yourself over it. You are the expert in this topic. Everything you can share is already inside of you! That’s why you offer these products or services. Because you know what others need to know, and now you just have to share it. Keep it simple, don’t overthink it, and have fun. Pretend you are having coffee with someone and telling them about what you know. Remember, this is a job you LOVE, so show others why you do.
Creating content doesn’t have to be daunting. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Tackle it by having the right resources, scheduling a day/time to plan it, and you’ll find yourself feeling less overwhelmed and making more space for joy in your business.
